Classic 105 Presenter, Maina Kageni is one of the richest
and highest paid media personalities in Kenya right now, though he never
attended any media related college, success to him came through hardwork.
Maina has opened up to the media about a moment in his life
when his mother cursed him for fooling her for years. She got really
disappointed in him.
After his secondary education at Laiser Hill School, Maina’s
mother flew him to UK for his college education. After she came back home,
Maina did not even register in college but instead started working as a truck
driver and a fish distributor for a Chinese company.
For all this time her mother thought his brilliant son is
still studying and she kept sending money for him, both school fees and
maintenance.
After 4 years, it was graduation time, his mum booked a
ticket to UK straight to the college to surprise her son and celebrate
together. To her shock, Maina’s name never appeared in the list of graduates
and he was not even registered in that college as a student.
The agitated mother cursed the son warning him to never
return home to her.
A few months later, he came home and landed his first radio
job and as they say the rest is history. The talented presenter is loved by
many. Despite the lack of college education his morning show at Classic 105 is
the most listened by many across Kenya.
Maina spends his holidays abroad. When the lad is off air he
takes time to relax in the United States of America where he has invested and
owns a home in Miami.
