- Three fishermen have
been hacked to death by suspected Al-Shabaab militants
- The attack occured on Friday August 4 at
Shakako-Moa in Lamu County
- About 15 attackers
ambushed the fishermen and escaped into Somalia Waters Al-Shabaab members have
ambushed a group of fishermen in Lamu and killed several of them in yet another
terror attack.
Three fishermen were
hacked to death in the morning of Friday August 4 by the suspected al-Shabaab
militants at Shakako-Moa village during the attack which is the third one in a
row in Coastal counties.
According to
witnesses, about 15 attackers ambushed the fishermen and killed the trio before
escaping into Somalia waters.
The KDF officers are
in pursuit of the attackers with some of the criminal elements said to be
hiding around the Lamu mainland. The attack comes less than 24 hours after
another heinous attack by the group in Tana River which left four people badly
injured. This was after the terror group attacked a bus they were travelling in
at Lango la Simba area on Thursday August 3.
The Wednesday August 2
ambush left three boda boda riders dead when suspected Shabaab members opened
fire on a Kipini bound bus at Nyongoro in Witu,Lamu.
The attackers laid an
ambush at a forest before shooting at the bus and killing the three people.
However, police officers escorting the PSV acted quickly and repulsed the
attackers. In yet another attack on Thursday, heavily armed al Shabaab
militants attacked Lafey Sub-county headquarters in Mandera county in the
morning, burned two vehicles and made away with another and its driver.
The attacks continue
event after President Uhuru Kenyatta gave a shoot to kill order on Shabaab
members saying they will not be allowed to main Kenyans and spread fear.
