Details leading to the arrest of Embakasi East Member of
Parliament Babu Owino can now be divulged. According to court proceedings on
Tuesday, September 26, officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations
had a difficult time locating the first time MP in several of his properties.
Information reaching TUKO.co.ke indicate that the officers
had to look in 7 houses in which Babu Owino calls home in Nairobi.
It took 10 DCI officers using technology to trace the first
time Parliamentarian to downtown CBD in Nairobi where he was apprehended and
taken to the Kiambu headquarters. A judge heard that Owino has no permanent
home.
Babu was arrested after making explosive statements about
the Kenyatta family when he allegedly claimed that Uhuru Kenyatta is a puppy
(mtoto wa mbwa).
Following his utterances, demonstrations in Kiambu county
against his sentiments were witnessed as demands for his arrest were made.
He remained unapologetic, claiming he did not abuse
President Uhuru even as his ODM colleague, Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris
apologised to the Kenyatta family on his behalf.
In the charge sheet seen by TUKO.co.ke, Owino was charged
with two counts of subversion and uttering abusive words against President
Kenyatta. Owino's life has always been shrouded by mystery, more so when it
comes to the source of his wealth.
According to prior TUKO.co.ke reports, he once said the late
Gadaffi who was the president of Libya used to finance his life. He also said
he has international sponsors who fund his businesses and lifestyle. He also
said he has several profitable businesses.
