There was drama and chaos on Wednesday morning after police
lobbed teargas near the Supreme Court buildings while a critical ruling was
ongoing.
The drama was witnessed at a time when the Chief Justice
David Maraga was leading his team in delivering the full judgement on the
presidential election petition filed by NASA leader Raila Odinga.
A group of Jubilee demonstrators started demonstrating outside
the Supreme Court buildings, some of them taunting NASA supporters who had also
attended the critical ruling.
However, the police were swift to respond when it appeared
that a violent confrontation was in the offing.
The Inspector General had earlier warned that there would be
a heavy police presence to avoid the chaotic interruption of court business as
was the case on Tuesday when Jubilee demonstrators protested in parts of the
CBD over what they claimed was bribery of Supreme Court Judges.
