Ms El Maawy died while receiving treatment at a South African hospital.
This comes three months after the PS was shot and injured by Al Shabaab militants who killed three other people in the attack.
Ms El Maawy was shot in the shoulder and leg while the three perished after suffering serious injuries.
She was rescued by KDF soldiers and airlifted to Nairobi for treatment.
El Maawy was later flown to South Africa for further treatment.
