NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga has been dealt
a blow after ODM gubernatorial candidate for Narok County, Joseph Tiampati
joined Jubilee.
Tiampati, who lost to Jubilee's Samuel Ole Tunai, was received
by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House accompanied by other leaders.
“There comes a time when we must stop fighting and support
one another for the sake of our people,” he said after joining Jubilee.
Other ODM leaders who defected from the region
include Rebecca Tonkei and Alfred Keriolale.
“What is important to me is that now Narok leaders who were
political rivals have decided to put politics aside and in a very mature manner
join hands and work together for the benefit of the electorate.
"This proves that their main aim was not to get
positions to advance their personal interests but to work for the welfare of
the people of Narok," Kenyatta said after receiving them.
This will be another setback for Odinga who is aiming
to garner more votes from the Maasai community ahead of the fresh
presidential election.
