Chaos broke out in parts of the country following the decision by the Supreme court to uphold Uhuru Kenyatta’s Presidential victory.The Evening Post has learnt that one vehicle was torched by residents in Kondele, Kisumu county minutes after the decision was announced by Chief Justice David Maraga.
In Migori, demonstrators took to the roads as they
maintained that they would never recognise Uhuru Kenyatta as President despite
the Supreme Court’s decision.
Business people in the Kisumu CBD rushed to close shop for
fears that protests might boil down to their shops. Bonfires were lit while the
Kisii-Migori-Isebania highway was blocked with boulders in Migori as residents
chanted anti-Jibilee slogans.

Parts of the Kondele Police station was also set ablaze by
irate demonstrators after it emerged that residents were resorting to the
station for safety.
The latest round of chaos came even as ODM Director of
Communications Philip Etale called for calm among NASA supporters after the
ruling.
Through his Twitter account, Etale told supporters to await
further instructions from NASA leader Raila Odinga “soon”. At the same time,
Jubilee -affiliated areas in the country such as Nyeri and Eldoret were in
celebratory mood with Uhuru Kenyatta's swearing in now an eventuality.
