Embattled IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba has maintained that he won't
quit the electoral body ahead of the planned protests by NASA on Tuesday.
Chiloba's announcement comes after the Opposition
announced they would hold demos outside the IEBC offices until the
commissioners exited office.
Speaking to a local daily, the CEO stated that he was solely
focused on preparing the fresh presidential polls.
"People should focus on preparations for the elections," Chiloba was
quoted by the Star.
Chiloba's sentiments come after IEBC chairman Wafula
Chebukati requested NASA to call off the planned protests.
Chebukati urged the Opposition to cancel the demos and allow
the electoral body to engage them and Jubilee on Wednesday with
regard to the issues they had raised concerning the presidential election.
However, the Opposition has turned down the request with
NASA co-principal Moses Wetanfula declaring that the protests will go on
as planned.
"IEBC has failed to address our demands. We’re going to
demonstrate at IEBC offices," the Bungoma senator said.
