Paul Otuoma on Monday
announced that he had defected to the Jubilee Party.
Otuoma, who is a former ODM
Vice-chairman made the move during Deputy President William Ruto's trip to
Busia ahead of fresh presidential poll.
The former lawmaker run for
Busia governorship but lost to incumbent Sospeter Ojaamong</a> in an exercise
he said was flawed.
After losing in the August
elections, speculations emerged that he would cease supporting the Opposition
for Jubilee.
Speaking on the issue,
Ojaamong affirmed that if Otuoma joined the ruling party, the move would not
have an impact in the upcoming presidential polls.
In 2016, the former MP tendered
his resignation from the Party together with former Secretary General and
Budalangi lawmaker Ababu Namwamba.
The two had threatened to
rally Western Kenya leaders to bolt out of the party and join another outfit
claiming that they were being sidelined.
However, Otuoma later
reconsidered his decision and announced that he was still in ODM and would vie
for Busia governorship.
After losing in the
nominations, he accused the party of conducting a sham process claiming that he
was rigged out.
He later officially resigned
from being an Orange Party member and declared he would run for the seat as an
independent candidate but still lost in the August polls.
