It was a pleasant day for two ladies in Shanzu last week,
when Mombasa Governor, the Sultan himself paid them a visit at their dingy
home/business premises.
Joho had just concluded inspecting and shutting down a
murram mine which he said has led to serious environmental degradation. After
the exercise, the governor and other county officials visited the home
of Mama Tatu Kalama and Fatuma Mdzomba, who prepared lunch for the them.
After the sumptuous meal of wali, Joho asked the two
ladies what he could do for them, and they did not hesitate to ask for a
financial boost in a bid to expand their business.
The first lady asked for Sh50,000 while the second asked for
25,000. Nevertheless, Joho gave them Sh50,000 each on the spot.
