President Donald Trump’s administration has taken action over the disagreement
between Presidential candidates Uhuru kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
In an attempt to
solve the sticky issues ahead of the October 17 presidential poll,
the US has reached out to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his arch-rival Raila
Odinga.
The move was
necessitated after Kenyatta and Odinga seemed to disagree on some issues
pertaining the repeat polls.
The former Prime Minister has maintained the IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba must resign and is pushing for the date of the election to be changed so that all issues of concern can be addressed.
On the other hand, Kenyatta has stated that elections will be held on the scheduled date as set by the electoral body and will not be changed.

candidates that the world is watching.
Through, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary at the US government’s Bureau of African Affairs Donald Yamamoto, mentioned that US would not take their eyes off Kenya, the Nation reports.
Yamamoto is pushing for both candidates to hold talks and iron out the issues of contention ahead of the repeat polls.

"Kenya’s on — probably on — the threshold
of a great election on October 17, but it’s the issues that we need to
focus on and work with ... the eyes of the world and the US government are on
you, on Kenya.
"We’re not going to take our eyes away from it (Kenya). Kenya matters. If our largest embassy is in Nairobi, Kenya, that means we have a stake in that country, and Africa has a stake, and this government’s looking at where the trend lines will go after October 17,” Mr Yamamoto stated.
The latest development comes after NASA initiated a campaign across the country to have IEBC officials exit office.
