The NASA coalition has now requested the US government to intervene in their push for a dialogue process that will settle their grievances of electoral justice among other issues.
The Opposition coalition on Monday met with US Ambassador to Kenya Bob Godec where they explained their position on the dialogue process.
Led by Minority leader in the National Assembly John Mbadi, the NASA leader asked Godec to prevail upon the Jubilee government to agree to negotiate with the Opposition.
“We don’t want cosmetic appearance that there will be talks but end up with no meaningful dialogue,” Mbadi stated.
Godec, on his part, supported the need for a “national conversation” but called upon the Opposition to abandon their threat of swearing in Raila Odinga.
“United States remains committed to a national conversation to ensure Kenya has a strong future,” the US envoy stated.
The development came as NASA strategists have insisted that they would swear in Odinga on January 30 at Uhuru Park.
