Raila Odinga met on Friday at Harambee House and speaking after the meeting, the leaders stated that it was time to bury the hatchet.
Odinga, who was first to speak and he stated that it was time to unite the nation as diversity had turned out to be a national curse.
"Our diversity appears destined to be a curse to our children. We are called to audit our performance in pursuit of our national goals.
"The time has come for us to confront our differences. We need to save our children from ourselves," stated the NASA leader.
His sentiments were echoed by President Kenyatta who admitted that the country is greater than any individual.
He hinted at opening a new chapter for the nation as the country seeks to heal.
"We have come to the understanding that this country is greater than any individual
"For this country to come together, leaders must come together. Leaders must be able to discuss openly to see what is the cause of ethnic friction
"Starting today, I and my brother (Raila) have decided to begin the process of healing our country," reiterated Kenyatta.
They both agreed that us leaders, they were tasked with securing the goals of peace, unity and justice.
