2NK Sacco has denied the reports circulating on social media that the fare from Nairobi to Nyeri, which is usually around Sh300, has been scaled down to Sh40.

A photo going rounds on social media indicate that the company had reduced their fares to allow more people to travel upcountry.

The photo was captioned: When our brothers in Central Kenya say Kumira Kumira, they mean it. Now, 2NK Sacco has reduced their fare charges to Sh40 from Nairobi.

Kumira Kumira is a slogan adopted by some politicians in the region to urge voters to turn out in large numbers on October 26th.

Nonetheless, the matatu operators have termed the reports as fake and have indicated that the fares will remain constant.

Some Nairobi residents who went to the terminus with the intention of getting a cheap ride were turned away disappointed.

Meanwhile, Murang'a elected leaders have organized free transport for residents from the city center ahead of the election.

Murang'a Senator Irung'u Kang'ata, Governor Mwangi wa Iria and Women Representative Sabina Chege have stated that those who wish to travel to Murang'a will be picked from Koinange.
