Former IEBC Commissioner Roselyne Akombe has disclosed
the lie CEO Ezra Chiloba told the Commission and lawyer Paul Muite
during the presidential petition.
The petition was filed by NASA leader Raila Odinga
challenging results declaring President Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner during the
August 8 General Election.
Speaking during an interview from the United States, Dr.
Akombe divulged that the electoral body lost the case because of dishonesty
displayed by Mr. Chiloba.
According to the ex-Commissioner, the CEO presented wrong documents to the Supreme Court yet assuring Lawyer Mutie and the Commissioners that all the paperwork was conducted precisely.
Ms. Akombe insisted that Chiloba stated that the
forms he filed at the apex court had all the security features and were the
same ones IEBC received from the Returning Officers.
“The CEO was responsible for coordinating all this. He
assured us along with our lawyers that all the forms that they had , they had
gone through all of them. And that the forms being given to the
Supreme Court were as the forms delivered by the Returning Officers.
“That the forms had all the security features. So when you
heard our lawyer Paul Muite say he was ready to have the forms available, it
was because that was the assurance he was given.
“He (Chiloba) gave us his word but that was not the
case," she said.
