Othaya Member of Parliament Mary Wambui has come out to
assure Kenyans that former President Mwai Kibaki is in good health and relaxing
at home, after media reports suggested that he had been admitted to hospital.
Wambui who lost the Jubilee Party nominations in April, was
campaigning in Nyeri on Thursday, July 20, where she said she was with Kibaki
in the morning and could confirm that he is well.
“I was with him in the morning and he was in good health,”
she told Mukurwe-ini residents as she wooed voters to vote for President Uhuru
Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
“He asked me to greet you when I meet you.” She added
causing residents to break into cheers and claps.
There were rumours last week that the former President had
died after being rushed to hospital. This was followed by another report that
he has been admitted at Nairobi Hospital for the past one month and that his
health was worsening.
