Uhuru's Nominee Rejects Job Offer, Here's Why

Former Cabinet minister Ochillo Ayako has turned down his nomination as an ambassador.

Speaking after the announcement made by State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena on the new ambassadorial appointees, Ayako stated that he "wants to serve the people of Migori County in whatever capacity."

He went ahead to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga for the "honour and respect they bestowed on me.

"I am ready to serve the great people of Migori either as a ward rep, MP, Senator or Governor and that is where my focus is," Ayako told Nation in an interview.

According to the former Rongo MP, he is eyeing the Migori senate seat that fell vacant following the death of Ben Oluoch Okello who succumbed to colon cancer on June 19.

A top ODM official told the Nation that the legislator is likely to be given a direct nomination for the party ticket.

"We are going to give him the ticket. Why would one decline such a lucrative job? He will be our candidate in Migori," the unnamed official told the daily.

According to reports, the move by the former minister to reject the nomination may unsettle politicians who have declared an interest in the vacant seat.

Those who have also declared an interest in the seat include former MP John Pesa, trade unionist Samuel Orwa, and Mr Maka Sembo.

State House has since replaced Mr Ayacko’s name with that of Mr Paddy Ahenda from Homa Bay County.

Uhuru’s rare message to Makau Mutua

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday made a rare gesture by reaching out to one of his fiercest critics - law scholar Prof Makau Mutua.

President Kenyatta’s message was delivered by his newly found ally ODM leader Raila Odinga, who was the chief guest at the opening ceremony of Kitui Villa - a new hotel owned by Prof Mutua.
When I was coming here, I told President Kenyatta that I was coming to open Makau’s hotel and he told me to tell him to stop being too critical,” Odinga said of the President’s message.
This is the first time that President Kenyatta has gone on record in reaching out to Prof Mutua who has in the past five years refused to acknowledge the Jubilee leader’s legitimacy.

In his public commentary, the veteran human rights activist stated that he would never recognize Kenyatta as President, always referring to the head of state as “Mr Kenyatta”.
"In 2013, I refused to recognize Uhuru Kenyatta as President of the Republic of Kenya. The 2017 shambolic elections confirmed the illegitimacy. I can’t — and won’t — recognize Uhuru Kenyatta as PORK," he said last year.
He has, however, supported the recent handshake deal made between the President and the former Prime Minister – who is also Mutua’s personal and political ally.

4 Questions DP Ruto refused to answer during NTV interview with Mark Masai

4 Questions DP Ruto refused to answer during NTV interview with Mark Masai

Deputy President William Ruto is known to be a very difficult public figure to interview who tends to give journalists politically correct answers.

The DP is also a master when it comes to steering interviews to favour him and the agenda he is pushing.
On Sunday night, was not any different when he was being interviewed on NTV by news anchor Mark Masai.
Using many word to express himself, DP Ruto was able to evade several questions asked by Mr. Masai either tactfully or bluntly stating that he will not offer a response.

Pulselive.co.ke has compiled some of the questions Mr. Ruto did not answer during the interview that was of interest to many Kenyans.

1. How much he was worth.

DP Ruto has in the recent past attracted controversy over the source of his wealth with many questioning how he has accumulated his 'immense wealth'.
Hustler number one as he refers to himself was pinned down to declare how much he was worth but cleverly found a way out of the controversial question.

Masai: Would you tell us how much you are worth?

Ruto: If you want to know the size of my bank account that is a conversation we can have?

Masai: What is the source of your wealth?

Ruto: How is that important to you? Would you want us to discuss how much you are worth?

Masai: Wouldn’t this be part of the lifestyle audit?

Ruto: When the time comes William Ruto will be on the queue.
He went on to rubbish claims that he owns several hotels, choppers and houses describing the allegations as rumour mills.

2. His visit to Mzee Moi’s home.

Ruto was cornered to explain his relationship with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, who is also the son of retired President Daniel Moi.
He seemed cagey when this question was shot as it followed with his visit to Mzee Moi’s home a few months back, where he was reportedly blocked from seeing the former President.

Masai: What is your relationship with Gideon Moi like?

Ruto: Gideon Moi relates to me like all other senators do.

Masai: How about the visit to Mzee Moi where you were allegedly blocked

Ruto: Those are private matters. We can discuss other issues. I do not see how that is relevant to the public.

3. Whether his tanga tanga mission is a political campaign.

It was curious how the Deputy President defended his countrywide visits that have since gained the monicker tangatanga missions.
Masai was straightforward with Ruto and wanted a yes or no answer as to whether his visits were early political campaigns ahead of the 2022 General Election.
But somehow he managed not to answer the question by stating that he was simply doing his work as the second in command, a seat he has occupied since 2013.

Mark: Is it a campaign or not?

Ruto: Nothing has changed.

Mark: So is it a campaign or not a campaign.

Ruto: Nothing has changed. Do you know the job of a Deputy President?
When questioned about his frequent visits to the Coast, a region perceived to be National Super Alliance (NASA) stronghold, Ruto dismissed claims that he was trying to woe the Opposition politicians.

“What I am doing now is what I have always done as Deputy President in 2013. If you count my visits to the Coast from then they are as numerous as the ones I am doing today,” he said.

4. Racism at the SGR

The NTV anchor also questioned DP Ruto about the explosive racism reports at the Standard Gauge Railway which indicated that Kenyans working there were being subjected to inhumane treatment, harassment, discrimination and unfair working conditions.
The DP ignored the question of racism and opted to answer how beneficial the SGR has been to Kenyans.

Miguna announces support for DP Ruto's 2022 campaigns

Political activist Miguna Miguna has now announced his support for Deputy President's early campaigns for the 2022 presidential race.

Miguna stated that although he did not support Ruto's presidential bid, the Deputy President had every right to campaign.
The self-appointed NRM General attacked ODM Leader Raila Odinga for his claims that it was "too early" for Ruto to start campaigning for 2022.

"I don't support WilliamsRuto and believe that he is as corrupt as UKenyatta, Daniel Moi, Jomo Kenyatta & other KANU Orphans, but it is extremely dishonest for RailaOdinga to keep yelling at Ruto to stop 2022 campaigns. Everyone has a right to campaign for what he believes in," Miguna tweeted.
The vocal activist has had a frosty relationship with Odinga since the now famous deal reached with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He has maintained opposition to the "handshake deal", accusing the ODM leader of betraying Opposition supporters for personal benefit.
Earlier in the year, Miguna swore in Odinga as the People's President, an act that led to his forced exile in February.

Meet PS Lillian Omollo’s Husband Who Is A Close Family Friend To The Kenyatta's

Embattled Public Service PS Lillian Omollo has in the recent week grabbed national headlines after she became the highest-ranking government official to be arrested and charged in the Sh9 billion NYS scandal.

Unknown to most Kenyans, Ms Omollo is married to a close family friend of the Kenyatta's and her swift arrest perhaps is an indication of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s commitment to fighting graft.
The PS, however, continues to use the surname Omollo from a previous marriage.
Her husband, Dick Oneko, is the son to independence hero Achieng Aneko.
Aneko served alongside Mzee Jomo Kenyatta in Kapenguria and although the two leaders would part ways politically in 1966, the friendship between their families has continued over the years.
Dick was one of the prominent professionals from Nyanza who actively campaigned for President Uhuru is last year’s presidential campaign.
A look by Pulselive.co.ke into Dick’s Facebook profile cast an image of an ardent defender of the Jubilee administration who is always sharing positive stories about the President.
His online activities, however, appeared to have taken a dive since his spouse was implicated in the NYS scandal.
Incidentally, Dick’s elder brother Dr Ong’ong’a Achieng became one of the high-ranking officials to serve a jail term after a Nairobi court found him guilty and jailed him for three years over corruption.
Ong’ong’a stayed two months at the Industrial Area Prison before being freed after winning an appeal.

Sonko Reveals Raila's Advice to Him During Machakos Exile

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, upon his return to the city on Sunday after reportedly moving City Hall operations to Machakos, disclosed the advice he received from National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga.

After alluding to his recent tussles with Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, Sonko disclosed that Raila called him on Saturday encouraging him to stay strong.

He further maintained that opposition leaders had gotten their state-provided security withdrawn before and they survived, reiterating that citizens would protect him.

"When Raila Odinga's security was withdrawn did his life continue or not? When Joho's was withdrawn did life continue or not?...

"Raila called me yesterday and told me to stay strong," he stated.

He was accompanied by over 100 Members of the Nairobi County Assembly including Majority Leader Abdi Guyo who declared their support for Governor Sonko.

They dismissed a plan to impeach Governor Sonko that was revealed by Jubilee Vice-Chair David Murathe who accused him of engaging in sideshows and 'throwing tantrums'.

The Governor stated that his nomination of Miguna Miguna as his Deputy came after several high-ranking government officials including Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries sought to impose their preffered choices on him.

Sonko further admitted that he had taken longer than expected to deliver on his campaign promises but maintained that he would.

He specifically noted that the county assembly had passed a supplementary budget 4 weeks ago allowing him to kickstart various projects.

Sonko announced that MCAs would provide youth from their wards to clear the garbage from the city unlike in the past when it was undertaken by contracted companies.

Husband To Woman Killed At City Park Speaks Out

The woman who was recently shot dead by police at City Park in Nairobi was having a love affair with her husband’s nephew, the husband claims.

Janet Wangui Waiyaki, 41 and Benard Chege, 26, accprding to police who visited the scene on May 20, were having sex inside their car at the public park when they were ambushed and Wangui shot under what are still unclear circumstances. She later died in hospital.

Wangui’s husband, George Kirubi, 46, to The Nairobian that besides himself, concerned relatives had tried in vain to warn the two against the illicit affair.

“It’s painful news for anyone to bear, for now can’t talk much because it’s a police case. We hope they will tell us the truth,” added Kirubi.

Wangui was his second wife and they were blessed with three sons after 16 years of marriage. Kirubi, fondly known as Fay by his drinking buddies, has two children with his first wife.

The late Wangui lived in Donholm’s Harambee Estate, while the first wife resides a walking distance away at the Greenspan estate, both in Eastlands, Nairobi.

Chege, son of Kirubi’s late brother Joseph Chege, lives in Pangani. Which is close to City Park. Chege is still in hospital recuperating from gunshot wounds.

On the day of the fatal shooting when City Park has thin human traffic, the police reportedly found Wangui’s underpants on the floor of the car and recalled that “she was occupying the front passenger’s seat, which had traces of semen.”

On being ordered to lower the windows of the car by the cops, Chege is said to have stopped what they were doing and jumped to the driver’s seat and attempted to drive off. The cops opened fire after the occupants allegedly refused to cooperate.

The car, a Toyota Fielder, is registered in the name of Chege’s father, Joseph Chege.

The officers had been informed that the tinted black car had remained stationed at the same spot for a long time, drawing the attention of a security guard who alerted the police.

I Have Not Seen My Husband Since Friday – Sonko’s Wife

Primrose Mbuvi: I haven't seen my husband for a week now, he 's scared

Primrose Mbuvi, wife to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has said that her husband has been missing in his Nairobi’s Nyari Estate home since Friday last week, even as he claimed that his life is in danger.

Mrs Mbuvi revealed Tuesday evening that her husband, whose bodyguards have been scaled down, according to the Interior Ministry, has been missing home due to security reasons.
“Since Friday, sijaona my husband, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko. He has not been around in his Nairobi home because of the security, he fears for his life.
“Security has been withdrawn; both for night and day. All have been taken away including his bodyguards. We are living in fear; especially the children are not used to this kind of life.
“Like now we are sleeping alone, we don’t know what will happen. We only have hopes in our God,” she said as quoted by K24 Tv.

Mrs Mbuvi’s worrying revelation comes amid fears that the governor has resorted to using his rural home in Machakos County to run the affairs of Nairobi County, after videos and photos emerged on Tuesday, in which the governor was holding a cabinet meeting in his home.
On his part, however, Sonko maintained that there is a plot to have him killed by State House officials, whom he has since remained cagy to name.
“They have withdrawn all the security at home, both for night and day. I only have one guard currently. There is no security even at the gate. All my houses in Nairobi have no security,”Sonko said on Tuesday.

26 bodyguards

Interior CS on the other hand on Tuesday, maintained that there was no cause for deployment of 26 security officers to a single governor, after Sonko’s security details were reduced from 26 to five last week.
“A country of our size and the security demands that we have cannot allow us do some of the things we do, which is sheer madness.
playNairobi Governor Mike Sonko (Courtesy)

“There is no county government official anywhere in this country who needs 26 police officers to guard them,” Matiangi said.
Sonko’s woes started last week Wednesday when he nominated fiery lawyer Miguna Miguna for the post of Deputy Governor, a move which has evoked a mixture of reactions, including sentiments that he is a candidate of impeachment from Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe.
In the meantime, a voter has sued Nairobi governor Mike Sonko for nominating Lawyer Miguna Miguna as his deputy.
In an application filed under a certificate of urgency, John Waigi Migwi claims that Sonko has sent the name of Miguna for vetting when he doesn't qualify to be the deputy governor.
"The nominee does not meet the relevant qualifications for vetting and approval to fill the vacancy in the office of deputy governor as he, not a Kenyan citizen nor a member of Jubilee party on which Sonko was elected," Migwi says.
He alleges that Miguna is a member of a proscribed group of the national resistance movement which is an illegal movement that works with opposition parties and antagonises policies of the Jubilee party.

Wamemfinya: Gladys Wanga Reveals What Jubilee Is Doing To Sonko

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has received a rare boost after Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga defended his tenure in the city.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s Power Breakfast show, Wanga disclosed that Jubilee was behind the woes facing Sonko.

Wanga claimed that Jubilee, Sonko’s faction, was frustrating his office, preventing him from delivering his pledges to city residents.

She stated that the ruling party ought to give the Governor space to work and deliver on his mandate.

“Jubilee is sabotaging Sonko. Wamemfinya ya kutosha let them give him space to work from Nairobi not Machakos…These guys created Sonko, let them give him time and support to work,” said Wanga.

Governor Sonko has in the past few weeks been on the spotlight as his list of deliverables that he pledged came into question, over a year after getting into office.

Just a week ago, he nominated lawyer Miguna Miguna as his Deputy Governor, stirring debate as to the barrister’s suitability.

Some Jubilee politicians were out rightly opposed to the ascent of Miguna to the post stating that they will shoot down the nomination.

Early this week, Sonko had to move a meeting of his Executives to his Mua home, Machakos County, 70 kilometres from the city.
