Kirinyaga County Gubernatorial aspirant Anne Waiguru was on
Tuesday, July 25, forced to scamper to safety after her campaign rally turned
chaotic.
TUKO.co.ke has learnt that the super-rich Anne Waiguru cut
short her rally at Kibingo in Ndia Kirinyaga Central after supporters of her
bitter rival, Martha Karua violently stormed the venue and turned everything
upside down.
All hell broke loose barely minutes after the former
Devolution CS had finished addressing a campaign rally that she had organized
in the area.
According to eye-witnesses, Martha Karua supporters stormed
the rally just minutes after Waiguru’s address shouting that she was not
welcomed at the area since it was Martha Karua and Gitari Gachoki’s backyards.
The scuffle ended up with police officers firing in the air
to disperse an already charged crowd.
Anne Waiguru escaped the fracas unharmed as her bodyguards
swung into action on time and whisked her to safety.
One person, identified as Moses Waweru was shot during the
Tuesday evening fracas.
However, he was rushed to a private hospital in Embu where
he was treated and discharged hours later.
Neither Anne Waiguru nor his rival Martha Karua have spoken
on the matter.
