President Uhuru Kenyatta has
ordered for the provision of security for all Independent Electoral and Boundaries
Commission (IEBC) officers
Speaking on Tuesday after the
killing of the Commission's ICT Manager Chris Msando, the President also
directed that presidential candidates and the running mates be provided with
adequate security.
The Head of State was called
for speedy investigations into the official,s murder condemning what he
described as a sinister move to derail the August polls.
President Kenyatta and his
deputy William Ruto promised to have Kenya united before and after the polls
calling on Kenyans to respect the outcome of the election.
He was responding after IEBC
Chairman Wafula Chebukati called on the government to secure the polls body's
officials so that they deliver a credible election.
Addressing the media on
Monday, Chebukati expressed concern over the death of Msando which came a week
to the elections.
The Chairman asked the
police to conduct immediate investigations to ensure that the killers of the
former ICT boss are brought to book.
Chebukati described Msando
as the most dedicated employee calling on all IEBC officers countrywide to keep
calm as August 8 approaches
