Cases of models, actresses and
female artistes being sexually harassed by movie directors, music
producers and managers have been grabbing the headlines of late. But it seems,
this is not done to women only but also men.
Women are also preying on weak men in the local showbiz
industry. Celebrity manager Slahver Kinangoi, also known
as DJ Slahver, revealed that he has been offered sex, among other
goodies, by female artistes.
DJ Slahver, who manages most A-list celebrities in Kenya,
said,
“Quite A Number Of
Women Have Offered Me Sex, Even Some In The Gospel Industry. Someone’s Wife,
Old Enough To Be Your Mother, Invites You Out For Lunch, And Before You Know
It, She Already Has Feelings For You, And What Follows Is An Invite To
Somewhere Private.”
Slahver said he has learnt how to deal with them.
“I Keep It
Professional. My Office Is The Only Place We Can Meet.”
He said dealing with upcoming artistes, especially the
“blessed” ones, is very difficult, as most of them are willing to part their
legs to feature in top radio stations’ music charts, but
“I Ignore Them”.
The multi-talented manager attributes his success to
producer extraordinaire R-Kay. He calls upon producers, directors and
promoters to be professional and nurture talent.
“Most Of These Female
Artistes Are Desperate And Willing To Do Anything For Fame. So If You Want
To Grow Your Brand, Be Professional. In Case An Artiste Comes To You For Help
And He Or She Is Not Talented, Do Not Take Advantage Of Them By Soliciting
Money And Sex From Them. Help Them Brush Up Their Skills. Nurture Talents And
The Society Will Be Proud Of You.”
DJ Slahver, who is working on a project that will see him
help upcoming talents spread their wings, praised the gospel industry for being
supportive of each other. He encouraged artistes to “put God in everything they
do”.
