A high-ranking NASA official has come out to complain of
poor quality of service from Airtel, days after abandoning his Safaricom line.
Phillip Etale, who is the ODM Director of Communications,
complained that the customer service at Airtel was not responsive to the
complaints raised by users.
"Even as people switch to AIRTEL_KE, I want to
express one DISPLEASURE... They don't respond to issues raised by people. Sorry
to say," Etale tweeted.
The comment came on the third day after the Opposition
coalition urged its supporters to boycott all products by the
telecommunications giant.
Kenyatta-family owned Brookside and Thika based manufacturer
Bidco were also fingered for the much-hyped boycott.
Airtel Kenya, which is fully owned by India’s Bharti Airtel,
has received the lion’s share of mobile phone users who have switched in the
aftermath of the boycott.
On twitter, there were mixed reactions as some users agreed
with Etale’s observation while others accused him of sending messages that
were undermining their spirit of resistance.
Others, however, were more understanding and called for the
firm to be given more time to deal with the overwhelming new numbers.
