A member of parliament elected on an Orange Democratic
Movement (ODM) was forced to take cover when chaos erupted at a funeral he was
attending on Saturday, January 13, in Kakamega county. Shinyalu MP Justus
Kizito also sustained minor injuries when the fracas erupted.
According to reports reaching The Evening Post, the chaos erupted
when Kizito's rival, former MP Anami Lisamula, arrived at the funeral moments
before he (Kizito) addressed mourners
Kizito and Lisamula's supporters then erupted into a fight
that left the current MP injured. Other MPs present were Lugari's Ayub Savula
and Matungu's Justus Murunga.
The two took off when the situation got out of control.
Kizito was treated at a hospital in Kakamega town before being discharged.
The currently MP defeated Lisamula in the August 8 election
after he successfully won the ODM party nominations. Kizito ditched Jubilee for
ODM.
