A section of Mombasa married men and women are complaining
that the rising temperatures recently being experienced especially during the
night is affecting their performance in bed during their matrimonial affairs.
Expressing the rather interesting revelation, a section of
men whom we spoke to on Tuesday,February 20 said they are being forced to wait
until the cool morning hours to engage romantically with their wives.

They couples said the heat has reduced their desire for each
other and increased restlessness. Mombasa and its environs is normally hot for
the better part of the year despite the heavy downpours between April and May
and the occasional showers towards the end of the year. “When its too hot
nothing can happen, there is no pleasure.
We are forced to suspend our affairs because of the heat,
the situation is becoming unbearable especially for us married women,” said
Eunice Kalama a resident at Kongowea kwa Karama area.
Kalama who only meets her husband once a week due to his
daily chores says she has severally been forced to place a mattress on the
floor because the heat has become unbearable. “Some streets are over populated
and the construction of single room houses are constructed in a way that does
not allow fresh air to get inside.
Many times I am forced to drop my mattress on the floor,”
she added. But there are those of a different opinion like Martin Onyango a
boda boda rider who says he has gotten used to the high temperatures and that
cannot deny him from enjoying his conjugal rights
“I have stayed in this region for many years and my partner
and I are used to the hot season. This cannot deny me my matrimonial
rights,”Onyango hinted. Story by John Karisa-Correspondent,Mombasa County.
