Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has called the fake obituary a
“death promise.”
“I Don’t Think It Is Just An Advert. We Must Put It In
Context. First And Foremost, I Am Alive. I’m Right Here Contrary To The Wishes
[In That Obituary] I’m Right Here,” Jimi Told Journalist

A visibly upset Jimi continued explaining,
“WHAT ACTION? I HAVE
MY LAWYERS, INTERNATIONAL LAWYERS. I DON’T TAKE IT LIGHTLY AND I MUST SAY, IT
WAS HORRIFIC WHAT THEY DID. IT HURT ME AS MUCH AS IT HURT MY FAMILY, WHO WERE
CALLED FROM ALL OVER. THEY WERE TOLD IT LOOKS LIKE YOUR FATHER IS DEAD. NOW
IF YOU THINK THAT IS A HUMANE THING TO DO, THEN REALLY WE ARE IN A DIFFERENT
WORLD.”
Nation Media Group distanced themselves from the fake
obituary by sending out this statement.
“We refer to the publication of a death and funeral
announcement of James Richard Wanjagi bearing the picture of Mr. Jimi Wanjigi
that was erroneously published in the Daily Nation of February 7, 2018.
We regret the pain and anguish this may have caused Mr.
Wanjigi and his family and sincerely apologise for this.
Nation Media Group does not condone such publication, which clearly goes against our editorial policy.
We have taken immediate action against those responsible for
the placement of the announcement, including reporting the matter to the police
for further investigations.”

The business magnate added, “Kenya right now is going
through what I would like to say is a twilight zone. Anything can happen to us,
anytime. But dawn is not far. The dawn is coming and it is not far away. All
these things you are seeing being circulated everywhere, they are being
perpetuated by a regime that is supposed to adhere to the law. Its is coming to
an end. It is coming very soon. Very, very soon.”
Jimi Wanjigi also sent a message to his detractors.
“I Am Not Worried
About Myself. God Is The One Who Gives Life And Takes Life. It Is Up To God.
But There Are Many Other Kenyans That Have Died Since August 8. There Are Many
Who Have Been Killed By The Same Arms Of Police And Nothing Has Ever Happened.
Not Even A Public Inquiry.”
