It has now emerged that the man who has been conning Members of Parliament and Cabinet Secretaries under the identity of Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege, is a Jubilee politician who unsuccessfully contested the Westlands parliamentary seat.
Police have confirmed that Wazir Chacha, alias Benson Chacha, is the face behind the identity theft of the soft-spoke Murang’a woman representative.
Chacha grabbed media attention after photos of him and former Bomet Woman Representative Cecilia Ng'etich in bed together leaked on the internet.
The 25-year old Jubilee operative claimed that the former Woman Representative had used him for intimacy before dumping him on Valentine’s Day.
Ng’etich, however, denied sleeping with the young man, and accused him of blackmailing him through photoshopped images.
Sabina moved her colleagues after narrating how a man she knew very well had stolen her identity and had been sending distress messages to MPs, senators, and Cabinet Secretaries.
She got wind of the scheme after Eldas MP Adan Keynan alerted her that he had received a request for cash from a person claiming to the Murang’a representative.
Sabina told MPs that she later realised that the person who was conning people in her name was known to her and wondered why the police were not arresting him.
Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti on Thursday told the National AssemblySecurity Committee that the Murang’a Woman Representative had a “special relationship” with the person who had stolen her identity.
Kinoti, however, did not elaborate his comment, stating that he could not do so in a public session.
Pulselive.co.ke checked Chacha’s Instagram account where he had posted several photos of Sabina.
He had also posted photos of Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda.
