NASA leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday attacked Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i following his utterances when he appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Administration.
In a series of tweets through the ODM Party’s official twitter account, Raila said the Interior CS was going against the spirit of his Harambee House agreement with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He added that in the agreement they promised Kenyans that they would use their social and political platforms to foster reconciliation and unity among Kenyans.
"It is unethical and irresponsible for a Cabinet Secretary to publicly denigrate another arm of government and to refer to judges as “evil.” It is irresponsible to castigate one’s predecessors in office particularly when they are dead and not there to defend themselves," said Raila in a statement to the media.
Raila said he was troubled to see a CS on live on national television making virulent attacks on the Judiciary.
"Using language that should not be on the lips of a State officer, Dr. Matiang’i attacked what he perceived to be his enemies including his predecessors who are unfortunately long dead," he added.
He said called on Matiang’I to come clean with evidence on the Judges he is attacking.
"If Dr. Matiang’i has evidence against the judges he is attacking, the responsible thing to do is to register his complaint and present his evidence to the Judicial Service Commission," he said.
Raila said the politics and leadership of chest-thumping, fear mongering, hate and division must come to an end in Kenya.
