Powerful Official In Sonko's Government Sentenced To 3 Years In Jail

The Chairman of the Nairobi County Government Regeneration Committee John Gakuo has been sentenced to three years in jail over the irregular purchase of Sh283 cemetery land in Mavoko area.

Gakuo, who previously served as Nairobi Town Clerk, was found guilty alongside former Local Government PS Sammy Kirui.

The two have also been handed a Sh1 million fine.
The Sh283 million scandal becomes the biggest case where powerful government officials have been sentenced to jail over corruption.
