For 80-year-old Peter Wekhomba Mwangale, it is by the Grace of God that he is still alive today.
Mwangale cheated death by a whisker after he refused to board the ill-fated FlySax plane that crashed and killed all 10 occupants.
In an interview with NTV in Webuye town, Mwangale regretted that the pilots did not listen to him after he complained of bad weather.
According to him, he declined to board the aircraft citing poor weather explaining it was raining and foggy making it dangerous.
He said from his judgement, the situation was likely to be worse in Eldoret, Timboroa and Longonot hence his decision not to board.
The plan’s crew returned his luggage as the plane took off from the Kitale Airstrip to Nairobi.
"It was raining heavily and Kitale town was very foggy. My instinct relayed to me information that Eldoret, Burnt Forest, Timboroa and Longonot could be worse,” he narrated.
“I told the crew that I was not boarding the plane and they decided to hand back my luggage only to be told after an hour that the plane had disappeared," Wekhomba said.
Wekhomba who was among the 10 people who had been booked to board the plane, a brother to former powerful Minister the late Elijah Mwangale.
His son was waiting for him in Nairobi but he told him he was not traveling.
