Three more Safaricom employees arrested as crackdown on SIM swap continues

Detectives from the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI ) have widened their crack down on SIM Card swap scam as three more people were on Wednesday, July 25, arrested.
Douglas Kiplimo Too and Linda Najoli Idali both employees of Safaricom, were arrested in Eldoret in connection with the alarming fraud.
Their arrests comes a day after three other people were arrested including another safaricom employee and two bank employees.
According to the DCI the three were arrested after a Kiambu MCA lost KSh 1.9 million to the scam.
So far seven people have been arrested in connection with the fraud after a distraught Twitter user narrated his encounter in the hands of the fraudsters.
Those arrested include, Safaricom employee Maurice Musoti and a Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) engineering student Rian Obaga Nyagaka who were arrested on Friday, July 20.
Others are Joseph Kuria Kariuki, Grace Wanjira Mwehia and Meshack Okuta Okoth who were arrested on Tuesday, July 24.
Prior reports by TUKO.co.ke indicated the fraudsters perform the swim swap by asking for Personal Identifiable Information (PIN).
