Before his death, the late Nicholas Biwott really wanted to meet three people
– They
include Cabinet Secretaries Charles Keter and Henry Rotich; and former
president Daniel Moi
– With
the ministers, he wanted to discuss undisclosed issues about his mega wealth spanning
three countries
The late Nicholas Kipyator Biwott’s body was flown to Elgeyo
Marakwet county on Wednesday, July 19, a week after he passed away at the
Nairobi Hospital while receiving treatment for an illness he’d been suffering a
while.
According to prior TUKO.co.ke, he collapsed in his house just
before he could go to the hospital for a routine check up.
His funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 18, and in
attendance was President Uhuru and opposition leader Raila Odinga as well as a
host of dignitaries and leaders from across the political divide.
The late Biwott is
survived by four wives; two of them foreign, and a number of children.
Speaking at Biwott Secondary Schoo in Toot, Keiyo, the late
Biwott’s personal assistant, William Chepkut, told the Daily Nation on
Wednesday, July 19, that there were three people the former minister really
wanted to meet before he breathed his last.
“He really wanted to
meet National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and his Energy
counterpart, Charles Keter. The late Biwott wanted to spell out some
undisclosed issues on his mega investments in Kenya,” said Chepkut.
Aside from the cabinet
ministers, the late Biwott was also planning a meeting with former president
Daniel arap Moi.
“I’ve lost a close
friend and a father. He mentored me politically and even encouraged me to vie
for an elective seat,” concluded
Chepkut.
The late Biwott’s wealth continues to remain a mystery
considering he owns vast wealth across Kenya, Israel and Australia.
He has dabbled in real
estate, aviation and in the hotel industry. He owns the Yaya Center in
Nairobi’s upmarket Kilimani area, HZ Group of Companies, LZ Engineering and
Lima Kenya which he co-owns with Daniel Moi.
