The National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition has overturned an earlier stated position that its lawmakers would boycott the first sitting of the 12th Parliament.
Speaking from the coalition's headquarters in Nairobi, Bungoma Senator-elect Moses Wetangula stated that the leaders of the Opposition wing had unanimously decided to attend the inaugural session.
Mr Wetangula, however, emphasised that the Members of Parliament and the Senators would only be in the house for the purpose of taking the oath of office.
This means that the NASA MPs will not participate in the first order of business which is to elect the house speakers.
The NASA leader also cautioned the elected leaders from the coalition's affiliate parties not to defect to the ruling party in a bid to attract development for the regions they represent.
