Sospeter Ojaamong’s led Busia County Budget committee is
allegedly scheduled for a trip to Dubai together with select members of
executive arm to study how to do a budget for Busia.
A concerned member of the County expressed worry that the
team has set out 53million for the one week trip starting Saturday 16th Dec
2017.
Allegedly, the high budget trip comes at a time when the
County is yet to issue bursaries, County staff have no insurance and no
single cooperative has received allocation.
One wonders who is authorizing such travels and exactly what
are the priorities of the people tasked with ensuring devolution offers a
panacea to the otherwise lagging behind Western Kenya.
This is not the first time residents of the border County
have complained of cronyism, nepotism, runaway corruption and tribalism in all
public offices.
They complain of insistent power blackouts , water
scarcity and a crowded and congested Busia-Kisumu road that has become
unbearable in the town itself.
Pledged projects such as multi billion dry port, multi
billion housing projects, new sewer line system and water projects and myriads
of other projects have remained a mirage.
Seems like just as it were in the last Assembly, the current
County legislators are out to fill their bellies with looted cash.
