How cruel can life be? 19 people died in freak accident in
Webuye on Monday night December 11th. George Fortune Oguso lost nine members of
his family in the accident.
The grisly accident happened when a matatu crashed on a
stationary tractor at Kamukuywa bridge along the Webuye-Kitale road.
The ill-fated matatu was carrying members of the same
family. The family members were returning from a reunion at their sister’s home
in Matunda, Kitale in Trans Nzoia County.
George Fortune Oguso lost his wife, daughter, son, brother,
sister, niece and two nephews in the accident. George was traveling in
another car together with his brother Wycliffe Kegode at the time of the
accident.
George and his brother Wycliffe tried to calling their
family in the matatu to warn them about the danger after they drove past
the stationary tractor but he could not reach them.
George Fortune Oguso opened up about the pain he was feeling
on social media. He wrote a touching tribute to all the people he lost in the
Webuye crash.
“I will miss my sweetheart,my Darling,my dear wife Ednah
Nyaboke,my ever smiling daughter,IVY MWENESI my neat,slow but sure son,DERRICK
OGUSO,my able and strong brother Godfrey Ilhalwa,my ever jovial sister Joyce
Oguso,my caring in-law,Abigael,my sharp and intelligent niece Caroline
Vihenda,my two loving nephews JOSEH and ETHAN,God had a purpose for this and I
will dearly Miss you!! Rest In Peace,” wrote George Fortune Oguso.
George also reveals that his other son and nephew survived
the accident. He says the two are recuperating at Bungoma Referral Hospital.
“Quick recovery to my son Dwayne Oyando and my nephew Godly
Okenye, recuperating at Bungoma Referral Hosp.The Almighty had a reason to give
you a second chance,” wrote George Fortune Oguso.
