Renowned lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has defended
NRM's self-declared General, Miguna Miguna, after he was arraigned in
court four days after his arrest.
The Senior Counsel, who does not shy away from controversial
issues, faulted the Director of Public Prosecutions for charging Miguna
maintaining that he shouldn't have been arraigned in court.
"In my view, the Director of Public Prosecution
shouldn't have charged Miguna Miguna at all," Ahmednasir noted in a post
on his Twitter page.
Ahmednasir maintained that the DPP will spend taxpayers
money and waste their time on Miguna who in his opinion was not worth it.
He further adviced the DPP to ensure they finalise the whole
case within the stipulated time by the Constitution.
"Now that he is in court the DPP must prosecute &
finalise the case within 120 days. By June we must have a conviction or
acquittal," Ahmednasir maintained.
Miguna was arrested after he and Ruaraka legislator TJ
Kajwang administered an oath to Opposition leader Raila
Odinga at Uhuru Park.
The Canada-based lawyer was charged at a Kajiado court on
Tuesday where he refused to take a plea.
Police charge sheet alleged the lawyer was liable for
being present and consenting to the NASA leader's oath.
"Charged with administration binding Raila
Odinga to commit a capital offence namely treason contrary to Section
59 of the Penal Code," the charge sheet read in part.
