It has emerged that the outspoken and rebellious Nandi Hills
legislator Alfred Keter could lose his parliamentary seat if found guilty of
alleged fraud at the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).
The Evening Post has established that the fiery MP's current
troubles could potentially cripple his political career forever.
According to a report published by The Standard on Saturday,
February 17, Keter is now at risk of being banned from holding public office if
charged with fraud.
The vocal MP was arrested on the morning of Friday, February
16, alongside two other Kenyans, identified as Madat Chatur and Arthur Sakwa,
after he allegedly presented forged Treasury Bills in attempts to steal KSh 633
million from CBK.
As was earlier reported, the renegade MP was dramatically
whisked away by Police attached to the Banking Fraud Investigations Unit who
took him in for questioning.
Keter's case is much more complex because he is also at
loggerheads with his own party bosses who recently ordered for him to be kicked
out of House leadership position where he was the chairman of Labour Committee.
The embattled Nandi Hills politician is one of the four
Jubilee legislators who had totally refused to tore the party line.
The others three leaders were Embakasi North MP James
Gakuya, Marakwet East MP David Bowen, and Moiben MP Silas Tiren.
These legislators refused to obey orders from President
Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto directing them to leave their parliamentary
leadership slots to others.
