A Nairobi resident has accused three policemen of robbing him at gunpoint after he found them at the police station where he had gone to report the crime.
Jervason Musinga Kiendi was left in shock over the weekend after he was robbed and dumped along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway only to find his attackers manning a police desk where he claimed the three men tried to block him from reporting the incident.
Kiendi alleged that the three men in a saloon car seized him moments after he withdrew cash from a bank in Machakos town on Friday.
He further narrated how they robbed him of Ksh390,000 and dumped him in a bush in Konza.
However, Kiende stated that when he went to the Machakos Police Station to report the crime and found two of his attackers who refused to record his statement.
Kiende further alleged that when he returned to the police station the next day, he found the third man he claimed was part of the gang that robbed him manning the same desk.
The policeman allegedly kept him waiting in the reports office but he decided to go to the Salama Police Station in Makueni County where he made the report.
In the report he made in Salama, Kiendi recounted how he withdrew Ksh400,000 from a bank in Machakos around midday on Friday and immediately spent Ksh10,000.
Kiende told police that later as he walked from the bank to the local referral hospital, a saloon car with three male occupants stopped at the hospital gate and the men bundled him into the car, threatening to shoot him and took him to the Machakos-Konza road, where they dumped him after robbing him of the money.
Machakos County police boss Samuel Mukinda stated that they had opened investigations into the allegations.
