Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has resurfaced after staying out of the spotlight for a while has come out to defend a man linked to parliament con Wazir Benson Masubo Chacha.

Through her social media, the ODM MP who was vocal when the National Super Alliance (NASA) launched their resistance movement posted a picture of her and the man who was portrayed on social media as the con.

In what is tuning out to be an intriguing case, the man in the photo was pictured with Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege.

Millie posted a picture on Facebook with the man who she referred to as Samwel holding up Tuesday's newspaper to prove that he was not the alleged Wazir Chacha who was earlier arraigned in court.

"I have just taken a photo in my office with " Wazir Chacha" behind conning saga of MPs. But wait a minute, he is in police custody right? This guy is called Samwel and fears being arrested coz of photos doing rounds on social media that he is a conman," she captioned the image.

A court on Tuesday ordered that Wazir Chacha, the man arrested for allegedly swindling several Members of Parliament, be taken to the Mathare Mental Hospital for a mental assessment.

Magistrate Christine Njagi further ordered that Chacha be detained at Central Police Station for four days to allow police to complete investigations into the matter.

He allegedly created fake mobile money accounts in the names of lawmakers such as Murang'a Woman Rep Sabina Chege which he then used to solicit funds from other MPs and high-ranking officials.

As a former employee of the Ministry of Devolution, Chacha had reportedly managed to warm his way into the inner circles of lawmakers and other senior government officials.

Chacha was arrested in Tarime, Tanzania over the weekend following a joint operation involving Kenya's Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Tanzanian law enforcement agencies.
