
The secret meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga continues to elicit sharp reactions with leaders cross the divided differing in opinion.
While the two leaders said they had agreed to set aside their political differences in favour of national reconciliation and healing, some leaders in the ruling Jubilee party read a different script.
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei sensationally claimed during a live interview on Citizen TV on Friday, April 20 that the deal was a plot to stop Deputy President William Ruto from succeeding Uhuru in 2022.
“We are aware that the reason that Raila came to pacify with Uhuru is because they have a strategy on how to derail presidential admission of William Ruto,” he said during the interview.
As reported previously by The Evening Post, the senator does not approve of the highly publicised deal terming Raila as a dangerous character who cannot be trusted.
“As Jubilee we are very careful, when he comes to the house. Because he’s a very…he’s a dangerous character. In 2002, he destroyed KANU,” said the senator.

The Raila-Uhuru handshake sent the political class in a frenzy with many not sure of what the two had agreed behind closed doors with NASA co-principals terming Raila a betrayer while those in Jubilee warning Uhuru to be careful.
Raila has sustained his meetings having shocked the country when he met and held talks with retired President Daniel arap Moi and later on Friday, April 20, with former Head of State Mwai Kibaki.
Since the handshake, Raila has held meeting with leaders from Mt Kenya inluding Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo as well as leaders from his nyanza backyard.

He also met and held talks with Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko where they discussed about matters affecting the capital.
In all the meetings, pundits and politicians have opined that it could be a strategy by Raila to position himself for the 2022 race while others say it is a plot by the political dynasties to safeguard their legacies.
Ruto is already putting in place strategies for the seat as he plans to succeed Uhuru.
The DP has been on a nationswide tours which most see as early campaigns for his bid beised hosting delegations from differnt regions at his Karen home as he spreads his net wide.
