A quick response by police officers attached to Kasarani Police Traffic Division has saved the day for Gor Mahia players.

The team was heading to Kasarani Stadium for a crucial match against Alger of Algeria on Wednesday slated at 7 pm.

However, a heavy traffic snarl up at Roysambu area held the team delaying them barely an hour to the kick off of the second CAF Confederations Cup Group D match.

Renown journalist Francis Gachuri tweeted: "Gor Mahia's team bus stuck in crazy traffic heading to Kasarani stadium."

"Gor officials frantically trying to help clear the road for the bus to move. Not nice," he noted.

The rains that pounded the area moments before worsened the normally slow traffic witnessed during the rush hour.

"Players need to prepare and warm up! Kasarani Police Division traffic boss should mobilize his team to do the needful," Gachuri pleaded.

A video sent out at 5:57 pm showed the traffic at a standstill perfectly capturing the predicament facing the team minutes to their match.

However, minutes later, the traffic police had swung into action clearing the traffic gridlock and giving leeway to the team.

A video sent out at 6:07 pm, exactly 10 minutes later, showed several speeding police chase cars with their lights flashing and sirens blaring escorting the bus ferrying the Gor Mahia players.
