Uhuru’s Explosive CNN Interview To Air At 9pm

Uhuru’s explosive CNN interview to air at 9pm

President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is on a five-day trip to London, will appear on CNN at 9pm Kenyan time.

The interview will be hosted by hard-hitting anchor Christiane Amanpour, Statehouse spokesman Manoah Esipisu said on Thursday evening.

Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita earlier hinted that the session would dwell on several key issues.

“For anyone keen to watch the hottest 🔥🔥🔥 interview on tv … be sure to tune in to @cnn for the next installment of @camanpour Amanpour.Where she has a wide ranging interview with @UKenyatta …” he said on Twitter.

CNN’s Amanpour recently interviewed former British Prime Minister David Cameron in a session that dwelt on several issues key among them Brexit, the Syria air strike and Somalia.

“In his first major broadcast interview since stepping down as UK prime minister, @David_Cameron tells me that for fragile states to go straight to an election after civil strife isn’t always the right thing, and could undermine democracy.” she said on Twitter.

Amanpour, an award winning journalist, has in the past featured other African leaders on her CNN show including Nigerian Head of State Muhammadu Buhari and former Presidents Robert Mugabe (Zimbabwe), Jacob Zuma (South Africa) and Jonathan Goodluck (Nigeria).

Amanpour met with President Kenyatta on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in London.

So far, the Kenyan President has met with several British leaders including Queen Elizabeth, Prince William the Duke of Cambridge, Prime Minister Theresa May and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.

On Thursday, President Kenyatta also met with Canadian PM Justin Trudeau who invited him to the G7 summit in June.

The meeting will focus on security, climate change and trade, Mr. Manoah said.
