Police on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of Timothy Kiptanui Kitai, the man behind the massive deaths in Mt Elgon region.
Timothy Kiptanui Kitai, alias Cheparkach, was arrested by police in Eldoret, after several months of trailing him.
Early March, police placed a Sh1m bounty on Kitai, for instigating violence in Mt Elgon region, leading to the death of dozens.
"Wanted for murder and robbery in Mt Elgon. He is armed and dangerous," the notice published on Wednesday reads in part.
Police said they had identified a number of suspects linked to the recent wave of robberies and murders in the region, but failed to give details.
His image would later be released and circulated in the media, police urging those with information to call 0202199151, 0702432877/999 or 112.
"A reward will be given to anyone with information leading to his arrest. Let's all work together in the fight against crime," the notice read.
It is not clear who will take home the bounty.
