Media personality Njambi
Koikai has all the reason to smile. The former NTV employee, who successfully
underwent endometriosis surgery in the USA in March this year, is fairing on
well.
Njambi is still recuperating
and she shared her recovery journey pics and wow! She looks amazing. In a past
post, she thanked God for giving her another chance and she wrote.
“BEEN IN HOSPITAL FOR OVER
TWO WEEKS NOW. I HAD 4 CHEST TUBES INSERTED AND NEEDED A WALKER TO GO TO THE
BATHROOM AND FOR PHYSIOTHERAPY. I WILL NOT DESCRIBE THE PAIN BECAUSE I LACK
WORDS THAT APTLY FIT WHAT I’VE BEEN THROUGH. SO THE ENDOMETRIOSIS IN MY UTERUS,
BOWEL AREA AND OVARIES WAS COMPLETELY REMOVED. THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE HAS BEEN
MY LUNGS. THE ENDOMETRIOSIS HAD SPREAD SO MUCH AND THE SCAR TISSUE PLUS THE
PLACEMENT OF WRONG CHEST TUBES BACK AT HOME CREATED THIS MESS. MY
CARDIOTHORACIC SURGEON HERE CANNOT BELIEVE ALL THAT HAD BEEN TO MY CHEST AND
RIGHT LUNG AREA.”
Njambi also urged women to
go for check-ups so that in case of anything, they are helped in good time.
“God has been so great. Your
prayers are reaching God’s ears, heart, soul, and mind. He sees and hears all.
Thank you for all your prayers, love and support. We all focusing on healing
and therapy. So the last two weeks have been filled with agony, pain, tears and
more tears. But we serve a living God. 3 chest tubes were removed 2 days ago
and I only have one small one left. I’m now able to walk on my own. Breathe
easy. Talk and laugh etc.
I’m able to sit up, colour
my books, listen to music as I thank God for every little thing He has done in
my life. Your prayers, love, and support are so welcome. God has blessed us
with so many people who are taking care of us even when they shouldn’t. God is
awesome.
I’d also like to urge women
to go and get checked so as to avoid issues like these later in life.”
Well, Njambi Koikai has
shared another pic, showing her tremendous journey and she wrote:
“As is part of healing, I’ve had to deal with a lot of mentally. Embracing
and accepting this new life out of the ‘normal’ pain. It feels strange. I’m
accepting it and loving it because this is freedom and God’s plan for my life.
Apart from that, I’d like us to talk about some few things. Matters healthcare
and how it matters to all of us. Africa is way behind when it comes to women’s
reproductive health care. I recently spoke to a friend in Zimbabwe who’s going
through endometriosis and my heart breaks into pieces. There’s a serious cash
crisis in that country and quite often hospitals and pharmacies have no drugs.
Those who can afford it have to fly down to South Africa to get medication. My
friend has had to get basic painkillers from South Africa. Now i recently saw
that we have imported doctors from Cuba, paying them extremely well. We are not
exporting our doctors for training. We are not improving the healthcare system.
We are not revamping the medical curriculum. We are living as they continue to
roll us like dice. It breaks my heart that women in the villages have no access
to gynaecologists. Women and girls in the ghetto cannot afford it. I count
myself lucky that all of you have been fundraising for me. God chose this
season for me so that we can raise awareness on endometriosis and women’s
reproductive health care.
This is a fight for all of us. Women’s healthcare is important. It is our
human right to have access to gynaecologists. It is our human right to have
access to medicine.”
She also shared another post
revealing the kind of pain she goes through and says she sleeps on the floor
“AS YOU’RE AWARE, THORACIC ENDOMETRIOSIS CAUSED MY ORGANS TO SHIFT TO
THE LEFT AND MY SPINE TOO. I’VE ENDURED CRAZY BACK PAIN FOR YEARS BECAUSE OF
THIS DISEASE. THANKFULLY ALL MY DOCTORS ARE FIXING ME GOOD AND PROPER. SO TODAY
IS ONE OF THOSE DAYS, MY BACKBONES WILL BE ON FIRE AS I CALL OUT MY MOM’S NAME
IN ANGUISH. MY BONES WILL SNAP AS REALIGNMENT IS TAKING PLACE. THE THERAPIST
WILL TRY TO BE NICE AS SHE FURTHER USES HEAT TO STRETCH OUT THE MUSCLES AND
BRING IT BACK TO POSITION.
I SLEEP ON THE FLOOR DUE TO PAIN. HATA HUKU AMERICA NALALANGA CHINI UZURI
KUNA CARPET KILA MAHALI LOL…..ANYWAY I’M ALMOST AT THE FINISH LINE.
I’M GETTING STRONGER EVERY DAY. FIGHTING HARDER EVERY DAY. YOU HAVE ALL
BEEN SO SUPPORTIVE OF THIS JOURNEY HENCE MY HUMBLE PLEA TO HELP ME FINISH
STRONG.
GOD HAS BEEN AMAZING AND THERE’S NOTHING HE CANNOT DO.”
Njambi is still fundraising
and she’s shot of Sh Kshs. 5.1million.
