
Migori Senator Ben Oluoch has died in Nairobi.
We have learnt that the former Ramogi FM presenter died at the MP Shah Hospital a few minutes past midnight.
According to Mark Okundi, the family spokesperson, Senator Oluoch died of throat cancer.
Senator Oluoch is among the legislators who had earlier been seeking cancer treatment in India.
The ODM Party in a statement passed its condolences to the family of Oluoch and the people of Migori.
"Migori Senator Hon. Ben Oluoch Okello passes on after a long illness bravely borne. The ODM Party will miss his dedication to the party & commitment to serve the people of the great County of Migori. We condole with the family and the people of Migori. We shall give more updates," the party tweeted.
The body has been moved to Lee Funeral Home.
Migori Governor Okoth Obado said:
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Migori Senator Ben Oluoch Okelo.
“His death has robbed Migori of a true son who cherished peace and championed for unity leadership.
“On behalf of my family and the people of Migori, I send sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Ben. May he rest in peace .”
Ben Oluoch won the Migori Senator seat during the 2017 elections, flooring his rivals by a landslide.
He garnered 68,194 votes while his closest opponent Gordon Odhiambo Ogola came in a distant second with 28,696.
Oluoch was also a popular presenter during his stint at Ramogi FM one of the stations owned by Royal Media Services.
