Eight Kisii High School students, who were captured leaving Wire House dormitory minutes before a fire broke out behind them, have been arrested.
Kisii County police commander Hassan Abdi has confirmed the arrest of the eight, adding that they are still investigating the cause of the fire that gutted down the entire Kisii High School dormitory on Tuesday night.
The cameras, which were installed in the school last week, were used to capture the irate students, and have since been classified as first suspects in the Tuesday night incident.
Parents and members of the public flocked the national boys' school after getting news that the institution was on fire, Tuesday night.
While no student or staff was injured in the night inferno, no valuables were salvaged.
School’s Board of Management Chairman Mr Patrick Nyagusia said: “the dormitory, commonly referred to us ‘Wire House’, was completely destroyed.”
He added: “Nothing was salvaged. But we are grateful to the County Disaster Team for their quick response in fighting the fire.”
