Miss Lang’ata Prison 2016 Ruth Kamande, who was found guilty of murdering her boyfriend, yesterday asked the court to forgive her.
In her mitigation through her lawyer, she told High Court judge Jessie Lesiit she is very remorseful for the death of her boyfriend Farid Mohammed, 24, in Buru Buru.
Ruth Kamande was found guilty of killing Mohammed on September 20, 2015. She is said to have stabbed him 22 times with a knife.
The judge convicted Kamande, saying the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt that she had malice. She said she regrets her actions.
Prior to her arrest, Kamande told the court that she had been admitted to Kenyatta University where she was to pursue a degree. She said the case cut short her dreams.
She said that at the prison, she engaged in other courses and is disciplined.
However, the prosecution told the court that she did not show remorse during the trial.
Kamande will be sentenced on July 19.
