Word around town is that rapper and singer Nyashinski was
supposed to perform at the BBQ Live event last week which was headlined by
Nigerian star Wizkid. But according to a Showbuzz source, the Malaika musician
snubbed the event because the organisers did not agree to his terms when it
came down to negotiating performance fees.
The source says that Nyashinski, before agreeing to perform
at BBQ Live asked how much Wizkid was going to be paid. After learning the
figure, he asked the organisers to add Sh300,000 more.
The two parties never reached an agreement hence the Mungu
Pekee star never performed. When we reached out to Nyashinski for comment, he
plainly stated that “Those are just rumours.”
Commenting on the story, his management said; “We amicably
didn’t agree on engagement,” and did not go further.
Another source says that while he did not demand Sh300,000 more than Wizkid, Nyashinski wanted his fee to match the Nigerian’s.
“He needs people to understand that Kenyan acts are just as
big as the rest of these other musicians who come to perform here.”
