Police have been forced to secure the home of lawyer Patrick
Loch Otieno Lumumba (PLO Lumumba) after they got threats of a possible attack
over his appearance at the Supreme Court.
Lumumba hails from Yimbo in Siaya and was part of the group
of lawyers that defended President Uhuru Kenyatta in a presidential petition
filed by NASA leader Raila Odinga.
In his submissions, Lumumba told the Supreme Court that the
IEBC had successfully delivered a baby but NASA was determined to strangle that
baby.
He urged the court to stop NASA from strangling the baby and
said the petition should be dismissed in its entirety.
Now his appearance for Uhuru has apparently angered a
section of NASA supporters who have threatened to burn down his rural home, the
Standard reports.
Workers at the home are said to have received the threats
and on informing police, security was beefed up.
According to the paper, a group of people hurled stones into
the homestead on the night PLO made his submissions.
The workers also said a neighbour informed them of a planned
attack and a possible torching of the home on grounds that PLO supported Uhuru
instead of Raila.
Raila hails from Siaya county.
