Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has called on communities allegedly ethnically profiled by the Jubilee administration to take up arms and defend themselves.In a tweet that has since been deleted, the outspoken lawmaker affirmed the National Super Alliance's (NASA) position that communities were being profiled and targeted by the Government because of their political leanings.
He also opposed Deputy President William Ruto's assertion in an interview with CNN that NASA leader Raila Odinga was behind a militia that was perpetuating violence.
NASA had previously stated that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission's (IEBC) decision to postpone the election in four counties;Siaya,Kisumu,Homa Bay and Migori was due to ethnic profiling.
They noted that the election had failed to take off in other regions including Western Kenya and Coast, therefore, the decision to postpone it was ill-informed.
In a Thursday press briefing,Suna East MP Junet Mohammed stated: "IEBC's decision to postpone the election in Nyanza amounts to ethnic profiling.There was no voting in 85% of Coast, Western Kenya, Nairobi and North Eastern Province."
In an interview on Friday, NASA leader Raila Odinga reiterated the sentiments noting: "This is tribal profiling against Luos because voting did not take place in many areas like Kuria and even in Nairobi."
A day before the October 26th election, the former Premier announced the formation of a new wing of NASA known as the National Resistance Movement.
He stated that the wing would be in charge of civil disobedience and resistance of the Jubilee administration, which he maintained is illegitimate.
