Ford Kenya party leader and one of the National Super
Alliance (NASA) principals Moses Wetangula has reacted harshly to the alleged
attack of his co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka's home in Nairobi's Karen.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, January 31, Wetangula
blamed the alleged attack on withdrawal of their security details by the
government a day earlier. "The NASA leadership is thoroughly exposed. We
do not have security and we cannot arm the citizens to protect us," he
said.
Wetangula claimed that the attack was aimed at harming the
Wiper Party leader and his family after their security details were suddenly
withdrawn.
"The intention of the attack was to harm Kalonzo and
his family members. We as leaders have no capacity to arm those who protect us.
That is the work of the government," he said.
The Evening Post earlier reported that gunmen allegedly tossed
a grenade at Musyoka's Karen home on the morning of Wednesday, January 31. Gun
shots were reportedly heard moments later though police reports indicate no one
was injured during the alleged early morning fire exchange. Investigation has
since been launched into the said incident.
Meanwhile, pressure continues to pile on Musyoka, Wetangula
and Musalia Mudavadi to explain why they failed to show up for the swearing-in
ceremony of NASA leader Raila Odinga has had been planned. Wetangula said they
will issue a comprehensive statement on why they failed to participate in the
inauguration event.
Earlier on, Musyoka, who is Odinga's deputy, cited security
concerns as the reason why he could not make it to the historic event.
