University Bans ‘Half-Naked’ Female Students From Using The Library

zambia university

University of Zambia has banned skimpily dressed female students from visiting the library as they ‘disturb’ their male counterparts.

The ‘half naked’ students were in a notice by the institution of higher learning asked to dress ‘modestly’ when using the facility.

“It has come to our attention that some female students dress half-naked as they use the library, a situation that is disturbing the male students,” the notice read in part.

“We therefore advise the female students to dress modestly as they use university facilities.”

The Daily Mail reports that some students were agitated by the action taken by the university management:

“There is nothing wrong with the way these girls dress. In fact most male students enjoy it and why should they dictate how they dress?” a male student lamented.

“Why should they ask them how to dress? Let them wear what they want anytime and anywhere,” male student Anthony Kunda, adding, “if there are some male students that are not happy that is their problem,” another student said.

Women in Kenya in 2014 protested in the capital over a case of a woman who was beaten by men for indecent dressing. The hashtag #MyDressMyChoice, gained popularity through these protests

The University of Lagos in 2017 also banned ‘dresses which are too tight, too short or expose sensitive parts of the body.’
